A criticism on “How to Develop Children’s Early Literacy: A Guide for Professional Carers and educators”

Abstract

Literacy and learning its four skills, which are reading, writing, listening and speaking, are very important and effective in language learning and educational achievement. The book “How to Develop Children’s Early Literacy: A Guide for Professional Carers and educators” attempts to deal with the subject from applied perspective, but it has many advantages and disadvantages which are as follows:
Advantages: The book is an abridged and small book which has many applied information about literacy and learning and mastering its four skills which can be useful for children at different ages, from babies to students. These kinds of books can be very effective.
Disadvantages: Unfortunately the translator of the book has not been able to find good equivalents for common words and technical terms. So it can be said that this book is not a good and suitable translation of the original text. In addition, it has many faults and mistakes in typing and layout.
