Abstract
A Manual of Turfan Manichaean Manuscript Fragments (A Methodology for Edition and Reconstruction) is an introduction to Manichaean manuscripts that have been written in eleven chapters and an appendix. The audience is an Iranian ancient languages students who are interested in writing and study of manuscripts. In this note, while introducing this work, there are some tips about some of its formal and content issues. The size of the book, the formal design, and the type of pen is very suitable, in which clear pictures are printed to introduce the characters and manuscripts. The Prose of the book is fluid, but sometimes the signs of punctuation marks have not been used in the right way. The chapters of the book have good coherence, and their pictures and tables help to understand the materials. It would have been better to use modern terms such as writing system instead of using traditional terms such as the alphabet. This could help make the content, data, and questions more orderly. The study of this book is very useful for scholars in written systems and students and researchers in ancient Iranian languages.
